‘Tis the Season to be Fashionable

If you’re like me then right now you are probably sitting down right by a fireplace, sipping champagne, in a glamorous Diane Von Furstenberg wrap-dress, watching Elf because it’s a classic. If you’re doing all of that right now I can’t tell you how jealous I am of you. There are people that go out with friends the whole week before Christmas and do gift exchanges, but that’s not me. Blogs, retail life, and school have gotten the best of me this year. Two days before Christmas……I repeat TWO days before Christmas, and I still haven’t bought all the presents I was supposed to get my friends, yet alone wrap the presents that I already have. I just put my Christmas tree up on Sunday and that’s only because I wanted to do a mini photoshoot in front of it. You can say my life has been pretty crazy this past week or so, but luckily last night I got to enjoy some time with a couple of amazing people. Here’s my mini introduction on who I am, my name is Myriam Harvey (my instagram is @myriamharveyy) I am a fashion and lifestyle blogger form Chicago. I write for my own blog (myrmeetsworld.blogspot.com) I also write for other blogs and websites, like College Fashionista, and every now and then I get amazing opportunities to do collaborations with other amazing bloggers, like this collaboration I am doing with Rachael.

Since Christmas is two days away I figured why not write a post about what to wear, and give you some inspiration to what you can wear this holiday season. ‘Tis the season to be fashionable.

Blue Christmas

Jewel tones are my go to for the holiday season! I love ruby reds, emerald greens, and of course sapphire blue tones. Wear blue this Christmas and you’ll already be ahead of the fashion game! One of the most popular colors for this upcoming spring season will be snorkel blue.

I really think blue very underrated when it comes to wearing it for Christmas, which is a shame because there are so many things you can do with the color blue! This model made her dress so much fun the beading on her neckline not only made it look like a necklace but it brought a touch of color to her outfit kind of like how lights do on a Christmas tree.

Something that I noticed about this model was her love to accessories and small details, I loved the stacked and layered ring look, along with her very festive red nail polish!

Santa Baby

Classic never fails; red by far is one of the most classic Christmas colors. This model took a more literal term on the trend “Santa Baby” she wore a dress that looked as if it was a two piece. I am a sucker for skater skirts, especially if they’re black. There are so many things you can do with a skater skirt you can pair it off with a cardigan or a chiffon shirt (which is the pairing this model had), or you can even wear a skater skirt with a blazer. A new rule I am going to have for myself for this upcoming year is that 80% of my closet should be basic pieces that will never go out of style, like little black dresses and a good pair of jeans. The other 20% of my closet will be those in style at the moment trendy pieces! I loved the Christmassy vibe her dress gave off, from the colors to the small details in it, like the red bow on the back of her dress.

This model even brought more red to her outfit with a classic red lipstick, which is perfect for all the guys she will kiss underneath the mistletoe.

Naughty or Nice

Picture
Normally people don’t do floral prints once fall starts and people especially don’t do floral prints for Winter. Fashion is supposed to be fun and different. This model and I couldn’t have been more on board with doing floral prints for Winter! I mean who doesn’t love a good floral print? The key to doing floral prints in the winter is to combine a subtly floral print with a dark element to it. I don’t think I have ever seen a fitted swing dress look so edgy.

You can even pair off a floral print dress with a leather jacket, a nude lipstick and you’ll have a naughty and nice element, and a really edgy outfit. Her metallic nail polish was just the contrast that she needed. With this outfit she will definitely be on Santa’s nice list.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

My biggest shoe trend has been booties I’m short and this is the most comfortable way to add an inch or two to my height and to pull my outfit together and make it look fashionable. My three models all rocked booties. My very favorite thing about booties is that you can do so many things with a good pair of booties. Whether you have tan booties or classic black, you can pair them off with any outfit and have a comfortable way to make yourself taller. Shoe love is true love, and I couldn't be more in love with the booties they all wore!

I hope you lovely readers are as excited as I am to try these awesome trends, and look fashionable this Holiday Season. Remember fashion is supposed to be fun, so be different, creative and most importantly be you! Hope everyone has makes amazing memories in their holiday outfits! Thank you Rach, it was an honor working with you!
 Stay lovely,
       -xoxo Myriam
