Hello beautifuls!
Hope you are having a fabulous week. I am going to be completely honest with you. My favourite fashion week collections are usually from Paris or London. However, this year the designers of NYFW have really stepped to new heights in style and creativity. Collections over the past week have been incredibly elegant and dreamy. Think regal this season; oversized fur coats, long luxurious fabric and soft velvet fabrics. Naeem Khan, Tome, and Tommy Hilfiger took regal to a whole new level featuring crowns and tiaras.

Bomber Jackets

Recently we have seen the rise of the bomber jacket, even before NYFW 2016. I have a lot of faith in this trend making it to the streets. Bomber jackets can be quite versatile in their styling; as can be seen from the two designs above. However, I am rather loving the idea of faux fur trims on my bomber jacket.

Embroidery

Embroidery has been beautifully crafted onto dress, coats, denim jackets and skirts. A stunning leather jacket from Alice + Olivia's Fall 2016 RTW collection also has writing embroidered in red on the back. You can view it here. Embroidered pieces is definitely one of my favourite trends from NYFW 2016. It creates so much more detail and makes it appear as if so much more effort has been placed into creating the piece.

Fur & Patterned Fur Coats

Fur (faux fur) coats truly are the height of class and elegance. They can make an outfit look incredible with ease as we saw from the Kardashian/Jenner squad during the Yeezy show. The pieces that they were styled with this past week make us consider days gone by; stunning 1920's and 1930's inspired looks. Fur coats this season have become larger and in some cases oversized, along with some stunning patterns.

High Boots & Pointed Toe Heels

Knee high and thigh high boots have once again made an appearance in many collections. This season the majority have been black, brown and grey in suede and leather. They have been styled with longer midi skirt and midi dress hemlines like the last few seasons. However this season they have also been styled with pieces like shorts. It has also been all about the pointed toe in both heels and boots.

Browns & Reds

The two colours that have been in full force this week are red and brown. In the past few seasons we've season darker tones of red such as maroon. NYFW 2016 has brought bolder reds such as cherry. This has been in both block colouring and in the smaller details like embroidered patches. Shades of brown have been seen in everything from coats, to shirts, to boots. The beginning of Ralph Lauren's collection was heavily weighted in different shades of brown.

Silk

Continuing the theme of 1920's styles silk has been incorporated into many collections. These have been in midi length dresses and skirts. Lace has also been added to many of the silk dresses adding an extra feminine touch.

Lace & Sheer Sleeves & Necklines

Lace and sheer sleeves have been incredibly popular this season. Many collections have also been opting for peasant style sleeves, some also with a flared cuff. Many necklines have also been very low in a v-shape. Both lace and sheer fabrics have been added to these low necklines adding something extra to the low necklines of previous seasons.

Navy Themed Pieces

A flow navel and military themed pieces with a modern twist can be seen throughout. Bold metallic fabrics and trims have been added creating a lush look of glamour. Navy style stripes have even been added for beautiful floral dresses.

Bow Neck Ties & Necklines

Neck wear is no longer in the form a skinny scarf or bandanna this season. Once again we see the return of the effortlessly classy bow blouses and neck ties.

Waist Belts

Waist belts have been incredibly popular throughout many collections. However there is not a consistency in the style of belts. Each designer has had their own very different interpretation. Waist belts are a great way to add shape to an outfit and really helps to create a polished outfit.

Long Flowing Skirts & Dresses

Hemlines have been incredibly dreamy with their long lengths and surplus of flowing fabrics. This trend has been interpreted in two different ways as you can see from the two designs above from Barbara Tfank and Carolina Herrera: regal and luxurious or floaty and feminine.

Tassels

Tassels do not appear to be going anywhere. This season they've been present in two different ways: 1920's flapper and 70's rock god. The 1920's flapper style has been confined to small hand bags, dresses/gowns and skirts, whilst the alternate has been seen on jackets, bags and pants.

Jacquard

Jacquard fabric has been used as a part of everything from jackets, high waisted shorts, tailored pants to stunning gowns. Fabrics such as this have been created lavishly detailed looks.

Beaded Dresses

It's refreshing to see fabrics with great detailing, such as beading this week. It a lovely alternative to plain white fabrics. It is no longer about simple elegance, but telling a story of great, detailed beauty.

Low Necklines

Low necklines have once again made their way in the heart of NYFW designs. In order to make them appear classy rather than the alternative, designers have used luxurious full fabrics in deep tones.

Gloves

1920's inspired designs can be seen throughout NYFW 2016.  This week we have seen quite a few different types of gloves in leather, suede and silk. Both short and long have been featured. However, longer gloves appear to be more popular. It is easy to see why. Long gloves create such an elegant, vintage vibe.

Metallic Fabrics

Metallic fabrics and trims have begun to dominate collections at NYFW. Metallic pieces, such as a block gold skirt are often for the bravest at heart. However some beautiful gold embellishment is perfect for any wardrobe.
There wasn't enough of this style to consider it a trend of NYFW 2016, however it will be one to keep an eye on this season and the following seasons: duo fabric pleats. I apologise if there is another name for it. J. Mendel and Diane von Furstenberg both incorporated duo fabric pleats into their Fall 2016 RTW collections. My favourite is a skirt by J. Mendel in the photo below on the left. The camel and sheer fabric intertwine perfectly. Diane von Furstenberg in comparison uses the inner fabric to create detail and contrast.

"Fashion that does not reach the streets is not fashion" Coco Chanel. Which fashion trends from NYFW 2016 do you love enough bring to the streets? I cannot wait to see what styles LFW brings this week. Have a fabulous day beautifuls!
